Job Description: Oversee the day to day operations of the Harnett Food Pantry.

Position requires frequent contact with volunteers, vendors, clients and the general public.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Occasionally travels to Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC for meetings.
  • Ability to use all equipment in the pantry including computers, etc.
  • Ability to secure inventory through various available sources
  • Training and directing volunteers to serve effectively.
  • Coordinates schedules, assists in logging volunteer hours, and gives direction to the pantry volunteers.
  • Responds to request for information regarding the food pantry in a timely manner.
  • Gives necessary referrals and information to “out-of-area” clients.
  • Attends Administrative team meetings.
  • Assists in coordinating training events for food pantry volunteers.
  • Assists in coordinating food drives with local community partners including churches, schools, communities, and other organizations.
  • Keep accurate food pantry records.
  • Complete food pantry reports monthly and submit the requested reports and inspections of the Food Bank in timely manner.
  • Other duties assigned on an “as needed” basis.

 

Qualifications:
 
  • Ability to work in multiple computer programs per the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time in a professional manner.
  • Ability to prioritize work and complete work in timely fashion.
  • Ability to be open minded to new work ideas and methods.
  • Ability to problem-solve on various issues as they relate to the Food Pantry.
  • Ability to work well with persons of varied sexual preference, racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and with individuals who are differently-abled.
  • Ability to deliver services to those in need with compassion, clear boundaries, and good communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to be highly organized motivated and remain flexible under pressure. Attention to detail and ability to organize and set priorities a must.
  • Ability to supervise others in a work environment.

Education/Experience:

  • Previous experience in logistics and operations management.
  • Experience in food distribution preferred.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Associates or Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, type, and view a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs and climb ladders.
